I create these characters because I was one of them: a kid in a small New Jersey town where the river was beautiful, the days were quiet, and I was always plotting my escape. Then my parents, who loved New York theater, started taking me to shows. Hooked on drama, I went to every show I could, and started writing my own stories, where I finally had a say about what happened next.

My professional writing life began when I moved to LA and got the chance to write a short film about drop out prevention for Disney. It won an award, and that got my foot in the door. I went on to develop a thriller pilot with producers at NBC, and sold ABC a psychological drama about a mother searching for her missing child. Two of my original feature films were optioned several times, by several production companies. Over the years, I’ve developed and sold material to ABC, Disney, Imagine, The Food Network, Mattel, and Universal, among others.

When I was hired by Glisten+ to develop fictional podcast series — one a YA romance, the other a magical realism adventure — it sparked the beginning of a new path to prose fiction, something I’ve held in my heart since I was a child. I’m excited to share that I’m now writing my debut novel, a coming-of-age YA dystopian romance of hard-won agency, resistance, and one very complicated nanny-bot.

I’m a graduate of Syracuse University’s School of Journalism and The American Film Institute screenwriting program, and proud member of the Ensemble Studio Theatre Playwrights Unit, The Dramatist’s Guild, and the Writer’s Guild of America, west.

I live in Pasadena, CA with my husband, fine artist David Palmer, and can be found writing in cafes around town with our mighty Labradoodle, Wilson.
